Arrival to Alta airport where your private driver will meet you to transfer you to Rica Alta Hotel in the center of the town. Dinner in one of the local restaurants.

Transfer to Alta Igloo Hotel by private car with driver. Departure for private snowmobile safari tour. The trip starts directly outside the Igloo Hotel. The fascinating nature offers a wide variety of landscapes while we travel on the former trade road to Karasjok, one of the last wilderness areas in Europe. Our path leads us through the forest and up onto the Finnmarksplateau, with its wide, white snow covered plain. Check-in to the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel, Norway’s only icehotel, completes the tour. The Igloo Hotel is situated in Sorrisniva (former Alta Friluftspark), 20 kilometres from Alta town centre – in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the Alta River. The Igloo Hotel is the only one of its kind and is built for the 13th time in 2012. The Igloo Hotel is open from the end of January to the beginning of April. The Igloo measures approx 2000 square metres and the entire exterior and interior is made of snow and ice; the rooms, the beds, even the glasses in the ice bar. Apart from its 30 bedrooms, the Igloo Hotel houses suites, an ice-chapel, an ice-bar and several lounges. The hotel is decorated with ice sculptures which are exquisite works of art. The temperature inside the hotel is constant between -4 and -7 degrees. However, guests are sleeping on reindeer hides inside sleeping bags that can stand -30 degrees – so there is not risk getting cold. Next to the ice hotel, there is a service centre which holds a restaurant, wardrobes/toilets, showers/sauna, 2 outdoor hot tubes, meeting facilities, reception and a souvenir shop. Overnight in the ice hotel.

Morning sauna and breakfast at hotel restaurant. Return transfer to Alta, check-in to Rica Alta Hotel. In the afternoon – private snowshoeing trip. Take a trip in the snow, using the ancient method of snow shoes. As we walk through the forest close to the mountain lodge, you will see the footprints of a number of small and large forest animals. We stop for a break in a clearing, and light an open fire so we can brew some coffee. Return to Alta, overnight.

Today unique experience is awaiting for you. What is more thrilling than staying in a lavvo (sapmi tent) in the middle of the Finnmark Plateau, watching the northern lights up close and enjoying fresh fish caught under the icy lake just a few hours ago?

Pick up by private guide from your hotel and transfer to the husky farm. Located on a small piece of land in the middle of the frozen Alta River is a dog sledding farm, where the guests are welcome to meet the dogs, cuddle with puppies, learn how to put on all the gear and eventually drive their own dog sled. We end the trip with storytelling about the Finnmarksløpet and Iditarod dog-sledge races around an open fire, while enjoying home-baked cake and hot drinks. In the afternoon – return to Alta. Overnight at the hotel.
