    The Peloponnese is one of the great food and wine regions of Greece – renowned for its crisp dry white wines from Mantinea, charming red wines from Nemea, indigenous Mavrodaphne, and exceptional regional cuisine. The Peloponnese is also home to some of the greatest historic sites, battles and spectacular scenery – from rugged hills dotted with olive groves and vineyards, to quaint stone villages, and miles of pristine coastline and unspoiled beaches.

    You will be treated to exclusive daily food and wine experiences hosted by top Greek chefs and wine experts, including private gourmet wine dinners, special vertical tastings, and hands-on cooking lessons and demonstrations.

    Most of all, you will relax and enjoy your accommodations in two of Greece’s premier luxury hotels which feature wonderful spa facilities, breathtaking views, and exceptional service.

    The tour is led by two tour guides, one of who is a trained oenologist and the other an experienced tour operator.

    Tours are conducted in English. French and Greek speaking tours are available upon request.

    Days 1-2. Athens

    Our tour begins with a walking tour of ancient Athens. Relive Athens’ golden years as you visit the temples and theaters of the Acropolis, the agora (or market), and tour the Acropolis Museum. You will be treated to a tasting and private gourmet wine dinner hosted by the world’s foremost Greek wine expert who will introduce our guests to the important indigenous grape varietals and major wine regions of Greece.     Days 3-9. Peloponnese

    From Athens, we embark on a memorable epicurean journey to the unspoiled Peloponnese. We will first travel to the southern Peloponnese, where we will visit the abandoned walled city of Mystras (once home to Emperors of Byzantium), and the picturesque walled town of Monemvasia on the Aegean Sea. Our accommodations are an elegant boutique hotel overlooking the sea (once a castle during Medieval times). On its lovely outdoor terrace, our guests will participate in hands-on cooking lessons and learn to make traditional dishes such as fish soup made from seawater and spoon sweets. You will also be treated to expert-led tastings of the region’s wines. From our base near Momenvasia, guests may choose to return to Athens (where your tour ends) or continue with the second phase of the tour on the picturesque northeastern coast of the Peloponnese. Along the northeastern coast, our base will be one of Greece’s most luxurious resorts with stunning views of the sea and nearby islands. From here, we will explore the wine regions of Mantinea and Nemea. Our guests will enjoy the second private wine tasting and gourmet dinner hosted by a famous Greek wine expert. There will be time to relax in the hotel’s wonderful spa and visit ancient Epidaurus before returning to Athens, where the second phase of our tour ends.
